e-ISOTIS reviews support for affordability for Elderly and disabled joining the Information Society

There is a danger that the technology and services of the Information Society will be unaffordable for those disabled people and older people who need it most. Therefore we assess the question of affordability for these groups and review the provision of public supports in this area by:

- identifying any areas where our members are experiencing problems of affordability and draw this to the attention of the relevant public services;
- encouraging policy-makers to review and improve national schemes for financial support to enhance disabled people’s and older people’s access to the Information Society (these can include assistive technology services, provisions under universal service regulations, and provisions under social protection);
- promoting design-for-all as a powerful way to ensure quality and accessibility, without extra cost.
