e-ISOTIS validates and reviews the accessibility and usability of Assistive Technologies and ICT services

There are already many existing technologies that can support the participation of disabled people and older people and their integration into society. In this context, we review the extent to which these “assistive technologies” and ICT services are accessible and usable to those who actually need them.  In this context:

-we analyse and specify the requirement needs of elderly and disabled people on how new services serve best our target group;
-we assess the accessibility and usability of assistive technologies and ICT services;
-we review the actual availability and take-up of assistive technology in Member States and we enter into dialogue with the responsible public services to rectify any deficiencies;
- we encourage policy makers, service providers and industry to consult groups of elderly and disabled people on assistive technology needs and on their assessments of existing service provision in this area at all levels, from international to national and local;
- we encourage policy makers to review existing legislation and national policies for provision of assistive technology, and to analyse the results from the users’ perspective.

We currently implement more than eight projects that address the above issues. For more info, please check our projects section.
