e-ISOTIS at AUTONOMIA 2010

Autonomia Logoe-ISOTIS will be present at AUTONOMIA 2010 (www.autonomiaexpo.org) in Athens, the open celebration of disability, technology, aesthetics and culture, which takes place on the 28th, 29th and 30th of May 2010 at the most accessible exhibition center in Athens, the “PERISTERI EXHIBITION CENTER"

As every year, the main focus will be on the advancement of quality of life for disadvantaged groups through the initiation of European Research Activities. Furthermore, the visitors will have the chance for finding out more about our free services to disadvantaged groups like vocational training and advancement of employability skills, access to specially equipped Technology Lab/Internet Cafe, access to educational games.

We are looking forward to meeting you there.

RECALL: Location Based Services - Reconnecting Excluded Communities and Lifelong Learning

Recall Logo RECALL will offer new opportunities to learners with a range of disabilities (learning, sensory and physical), and to their teachers/trainers and parents/caregivers. It will help them to (re) connect with learning and employment opportunities, and to access public services whilst developing skills that are critical to their safety in doing so by combing location based services (LBS) with games based learning (GBL).

e-ISOTIS was present at AUTONOMIA 2009 (www.autonomiaexpo.org) in Athens, the open celebration of disability, technology, aesthetics and culture, which took place on the 15th, 16th and 17th of May 2009 at the most accessible place in Athens, the Stadium of Peace and FriendshipStadium of Peace and Friendship!
The visitors had the opportunity to come and see our stand (no. 28) to find out more about our services.e.g.

* Design and development of accessible websites and Internet based applications
* Auditing of the accessibility level of websites and Internet based applications
* Organisation of events (awards, tradeshows, expos, seminars, etc.) to advance Assistive Technologies and e-Accessibility
* Operation of an Assistive Technology Lab for free experimentation and use of State-of-the Art Assistive Technology products
* Advice on the use of affordable Assistive Technology solutions for independent living and quality of life
* Advancement of quality of life for disadvantaged groups through the initiation of European research activities

* Organisation of innovative training seminars (e.g. Project Management and Dissemination of European Projects, Exploitation of Funding Sources in Europe, etc.)

Interactive Graphical Tactile Display

In the context of the Research and Development Activities of e-ISOTIS, our organization has assigned along with 12 more companies and associations from Europe to four widely known research institutes in Europe, Centre Suisse d Electronique et de Microtechnique, University of Glasgow (Human Computer Interaction Research Group), Centre de Recerca I Investigacio de Catalynya, and Feltalaloi es Kutato Kozpont Szolgaltato the development of an interactive graphical tactile display and user interface for people with sight loss by exploiting polymer Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS).

eAccess II platform

On behalf of e-ISOTIS, we are pleased to announce a new European site named eAccess II, of which the main purpose is to provide users with special needs with accessible e-Training resources and e-Training courses. e-ISOTIS is one of the partners of the eAccess II project.

Overview of the eAccess II project:
The eAccess II project aims to provide the technical infrastructure (tools and services) and to deliver training for developing and sharing Accessible e-Training Resources and e-Training Courses that can be reusable between different e-Training Platforms and Programmes.

The main outcomes of the eAccess II project will be:

  • The transfer of know-how across Europe on producing accessible e-Training Resources and Courses and providing e-Training services to People with Disabilities.
  • The validation of the eAccess key results/outcomes in different European Settings.
  • The transfer of innovative e-Training practices across Europe. The envisaged impact of the eAccess II project is the awareness rising on digital literacy and equal training opportunities for People with Disabilities, as well as facilitating the development of innovative practices in the field of vocational education and training other than at tertiary level, and their transfer, including from one participating country to others and supporting the development of innovative ICT-based content, services, pedagogies, and practice for Lifelong Learning.
