DICOMP Transfer
DICOMP Transfer: Digital competence for blind people as a basis for work and vocational education and training
Blind and visually impaired people face barriers to learning, vocational training as well as lack of promotion opportunities. Amongst other reasons for this, most work tasks are based around the use of the computer and assistive disability software has remained high cost and unaffordable to unemployed citizens.
e-ISOTIS with partners from Austria, Bulgaria, Spain, Poland and Turkey will collaborate in the transfer of innovation project DICOMP-S.NET, which empowers the visually impaired back into mainstream society and employment by making free screen reading software available.
The project will deliver a freely available screen reader for blind and visually impaired people for accessing web applications, e-mail, word processing and most computer applications in Spanish, Greek, Turkish, Bulgarian and Polish. The delivery of the screen reader will be accompanied by a tutor training programme for those who are to support the implementation and use of the products within the target group face-to-face or remotely.
