e-ISOTIS Attends CSUN 2008 (Technology & Persons with Disabilities Conference) in Los Angeles
e-ISOTIS attended the internationally recognised CSUN conference, which looks at new developments in the field of assistive technology for people with disabilities.
In addition to the annual invite, e-ISOTIS was also invited to present the ASK-IT project to delegates, as this particular EC project has gathered momentum on an international scale with interest ranging from LA to Beijing.
e-ISOTIS presented the ASK-IT project (www.ask-it.org), discussing the details of how the project has been managed and what impact this project would have on quality of life for the ‘end user’. It was also demonstrated how this project can be adapted to other markets, from Asian markets to the American market looking at it from an Academic, Scientific and also Commercial angle.
The ASK-IT project aims at establishing Ambient Intelligence (AmI) in semantic web enabled services, to support and promote the mobility of Mobility Impaired people, enabling the provision of personalised, self-configurable, intuitive and context-related applications and services and facilitating knowledge and content organisation and processing.
This is provided via a mobile device (PDA as an example) and it really a fantastic piece of technology that will provide true independance to people who have a disability that previously may have restricted their ability to travel or coordinate their personal lives.
