A MAJOR SUCCESS - THE ACCESS IT AWARDS 2008
On the 18th July 2008 at Microsoft Head Office in London, e-ISOTIS and AbilityNet (UK) held the first of its kind award ceremony that celebrated and demonstrated Assistive Technology and Information Communication Technology for people with disabilities and the elderly under one generic name, ACCESS-IT.
The event was an absolute success with coverage on different media platforms and also using ‘twitter’ an accessible realtime social networking website and micro blogger which announced the winners to an audience of over 200 who were logged into the service at that time. The awards ceremony was attended by over 90 delegates representing over 70 organisations from across Europe and beyond.
The Access-IT awards 2008, jointly organised by e-ISOTIS and AbilityNet, successfully identified and promoted the impact towards a better quality of life and independent living by public, private voluntary groups and/or individuals to an inclusive society through ICT and AT.
